Tailteann Success for East Munster Athletes

The GloHealth Tailteann Interprovincial Track & Field Championships were held in Morton Stadium on Friday 19th June. David Ryan, Thurles CBS was awarded the Michael Farnan Memorial Trophy for Best Long Jump athlete of the competition. Ryan, a Junior athlete, earned the accolade by jumped out to a personal best of 6.77m on the day to win gold with his older brother Daniel just 5cm behind him on 6.72m. Orlaith O’Brien, Ursuline Waterford set a new record of 45.67m in the Girls Javelin to take gold with silver medals won by Aoife Hamilton, Meanscoil San Nioclas in the Girls 1500m Steeplechase & fellow student, Diarmuid Clancy in the Boys 400mH. Bronze medals were won by Claire Rafter, Ursuline Thurles in the Girls 1500m, Orla O’Connor, Waterpark College in the Girls 3km Walk. Ann Corcoran, Ursuline Waterford in the Girls Shot Putt & Kathleen Heery, Ursuline Waterford in the Girls Discus. Thurles CBS finished in 2nd place overall in the Boys category with the Ursuline Waterford in 2nd place in the Girls competition. Both the Boys & Girls Munster Teams finished in 3rd place overall behind Leinster & Ulster. Congratulations & well done to all.
