Congrats to all our East Munster athletes who competed on the day. Among the stars that shone were our 3 record breakers:-
- Anna Ryan, Ursuline Thurles vaulted 2.90m in the Junior Girls Pole Vault to break the 2.70m mark set by Kaleigh Cronin, St. Brigid’s Killarney in 2011.
- Tara Ramasawmy, Presentation Waterford ran 5.30.09 in the U/16 Girl’s Mile to better the record of 5.35.55 set by S. O’Brien, Presentation Milltown in 2016.
- Tirna Ni Chathail, Pobalscoil na Trionoide threw the Intermediate Girls Hammer out to 48.63m to break the 2013 record of 48.32m held by Alice Akers, Scariff CC.
Girls Results
Double medal winners were:- Katie Nolke, Ursuline Waterford who won double gold in the Minor Girls High Jump and Long Jump; Miriam Daly, Scoil Mhuire COS won double gold in the Inter Girls 80mH & 300mH; Anna Ryan, Ursuline Thurles won gold in the Junior Girls Pole Vault (record) & silver in the Discus; Roseann Fitzgerald, CTI Clonmel won gold in the Inter Girls 300m & silver in the 200m; Claire Rafter, Ursuline Thurles won gold in the Inter Girls 3km & silver in the 1500m; Katie Murphy, Abbey CC won double silver in the Senior Girls 100m & 200m; Avril Deegan, Presentation Thurles won double silver in the Senior Girls 3km & 1500m; Emily Nolan, Scoil Mhuire COS won double bronze in the Senior Girls 100m & 200m; Sarah Jacob, Ursuline Waterford won double bronze in the Inter Girls Discus & Shot Putt & Emily O’Mahoney, St. Augustine’s Dungarvan won double bronze in the Inter Girls Long Jump & Triple Jump. Our Girls won a total of 47 medals – 14 gold, 15 silver & 18 bronze with Our Lady’s Templemore topping the Minor Girls category and the Presentation Waterford topping the Girls U/16 category. In the Relay competition, there was gold for Our Lady’s Templemore in the Minor Girls 4 x 100m, bronze for Scoil Mhuire COS in Junior Girls 4 x 100m & silver in the Inter Girls 4 x 100m.
Boys Results
East Munster Boys won 40 medals in total, 17 gold, 11 silver & 12 bronze. Double medal winners were Sean Mockler, Thurles CBS, double gold in Inter Boys Hammer & Discus; Daniel Ryan, Thurles CBS, double gold in Senior Boys 110mH & Shot Putt; Shane Monagle, Ard Scoil na Mara, gold in Senior Boys Long Jump & silver in 110mH; James Murphy, Ard Scoil na Mara, gold in Senior Boys Triple Jump & bronze in Long Jump & Jack Corcoran, Waterpark College, double silver in Minor Boys 75mH & Junior Boys Triple Jump. in the Relay competitions, there was silver for St. Joseph’s Borrisoleigh in the Minor Boys 4 x 100m, silver for Our Lady’s Templemore in the Junior Boys 4 x 100m, silver for Thurles CBS in the Inter Boys 4 x 100m, silver for Ard Scoil na Mara in the Senior Boys 4 x 100m & gold for St. Declan’s in the Senior Boys 4 x 400m & bronze for Dungarvan CBS.
Thurles CBS won the overall Intermediate Boys Cup.
