The Irish Life Health Tailteann Interprovincial T&F Championships were held on Saturday 24th June in Morton Stadium. Munster athletes had a great day winning 44 medals in total (20 gold, 12 silver and 12 bronze) and taking home the Boys Tailteann Trophy for the first time since 1991. East Munster athletes won 11 individual Tailteann medals on the day.
There were gold medal wins for Sean Mockler, Thurles CBS in the Discus and Hammer; Jack Ryan, Thurles CBS in the Shot Putt; Adam O’Dwyer, Thurles CBS in the Pole Vault; Miriam Daly, Scoil Mhuire COS in the 300mH and bronze in the 80mH with the top 3 athletes all sharing the same time of 11.77 and Jake Vermeer, Comeragh College in the 400mH. Silver medals were won by Tirna Ni Chathail, Pobailscoil na Trionoide in the Hammer, Patrick Fitzgerald, St. Augustine’s Dungarvan in the Pole Vault and Liam McDonagh, Thurles CBS in the 3km Walk and bronze for Aisling Lowe, Ursuline Waterford in the 1500m Steeplechase. Miriam Daly and Roseann Fitzgerald, CTI Clonmel were on the gold medal winning Munster Girls 4 x 400m team with Jake Vermeer and Jack Hickey, Thurles CBS winning bronze as part of the Munster 4 x 400m Boys team.
